Pruning supports a tree’s health, structure, and safety — but improper pruning can do real harm. General guidance follows; significant work is best left to professionals.

Why prune

  • Remove dead, damaged, or diseased limbs
  • Improve structure and reduce risk
  • Maintain clearance and form

Good habits

  • Prune with purpose, not just to “cut back”
  • Avoid topping, which harms trees
  • For large limbs or anything near power lines, hire a pro
Safety first: work near power lines, chainsaw work, and climbing are hazardous. Leave that to trained, insured professionals.
